tmd was appointed to provide advice following the failure of cladding panels being installed as part of the refurbishment of a series of high-rise residential blocks in the UK. A significant number of the newly installed panels were showing evidence of delamination and tmd was asked to investigate the cause and establish whether the specified cladding product was fit for purpose.

tmd obtained specialist technical reports from the manufacturer, contractor and independent testing houses (including the BRE) to assess the likely cause of the delamination evident on the panels used on this particular project.

An inspection of the overseas manufacturing facility to view the production process and subsequent storage and shipping arrangements was undertaken. Ultimately the decision was taken to replace the defective panels and to procure an alternative product on the remaining blocks.
